Department Description
Established in the year 2007
Courses Offered:
- B.Sc Hons (4 years )
- Masters degree(2 years ) – Chemistry
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D)- Chemistry
Department hosts 14 full time faculty members, all of whom are Ph.D graduates with research expertise in the diverse fields of chemistry. 12 of them are recognized Ph.D guides of Tumkur University. 29 doctoral students have been awarded Ph.D degrees and 27 are pursuing their Ph.D degrees at present.
The research areas compassthe high impact fields like synthetic organic chemistry, applied organic synthesis, nanochemistry, catalysis, energy conversion and storage, theoretical and structural chemistry. The interdisciplinary research is also undertaken as a result of productive collaborations.
The research output of the department is noticeablewith total publications of 150 from last few years. The articles have appeared in chemistry towards of repute and have garnered appreciable citations.
The total research projects are 10(worth >1 Crore Rupees grants) which are funded by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission (UGC) and Vision Group of Science and Technology (VGST).
The department consistently organizes conferences, lectures and workshops pertaining to evolving fields in chemistry and its allied fields.
